Tsuru Ki GoJu Ryu Tsuru Ki Go Ju Ryu Martial Arts (Ages 5 and up), of Hainesport, is a result of a vision that Sensei Cianelli has had over 26 years of martial arts training in both Japanese and Chinese styles of martial arts. Tsuru Ki Go Ju Ryu has its roots in Traditional Okinawan GoJu Ryu with a major influence of Fukien White Crane (Chi Kung). Tsuru Ki teaches the principles of GoJu Ryu and enhances the art by providing insights into the root of the style by incorporating the principles of White Crane. Sensei Cianelli has had the unique opportunity to train extensively in both styles so he brings a unique prospective and insight into the styles and the application of techniques.
The name Tsuru Ki means Crane Spirit. The name and design for the school logo is symbolic of the fusion of the White Crane and GoJu styles.
Breathing and relaxation are emphasized in both styles and the classes focus on developing the internal energy (chi) as well as teaching self-defense. The White Crane Style is offered as a separate curriculum to those interested. Sensei Cianelli has also studied Yang Style Tai Chi and offers this class as a less ballistic style of martial arts for those interested in improving balance, breathing, circulation and overall health.
One of Sensei Cianelli’s passions is the study of the Japanese Sword, he is on the technical board of advisors for the Tiger Family Iaido Association and classes are offered in Iaido for the interested student. Once enrolled in Tsuru Ki you will have the opportunity to study all the curriculums offered. Children however, will only be allowed to participate in Go Ju Ryu and Iaido, White Crane and Tai Chi are reserved for the adults due to the higher level of complexity involved in understanding these styles.
